该片是由皮奥特尔·舒尔金执导的科幻片,于1985年上映,主要.讲述了:Se.t in an underground dung.eon inhabited by bund.led, ragged human beings., after the nuclea.r holocaust. The story foll.ows the w.anderings of a hero through. the situations of survi.val. Peop.le wait for the Ark to a.rrive .and rescue them while. their habitat fal.ls .apart.. Delving deep into the .dusty and long abando.nded vaults of b-cinema .in search of lost .gems always leaves me with .a bitters.weet taste. On one hand the. discovery of unexpected. gems whe.re no one would think th.em pos.sible is a rewarding .experience. On the. ot.her ha.nd though it makes one w.onder how many of the.se remarkable low-budget. oddities, persona.l love affairs of directors. never qu.ite famous and now all but .forgotten, have almost f.orever sl.ipped from memory n any. case .what we have here is .a little post-apoc.aly.ptic g.em from Poland that is r.eally better than it .has any right to. The dy.stopian near futur.e of O-BI, O-BA finds a gro.up of sur.vivors of the nuclear war t.hat ravaged the Earth in.habiting .an underworld concrete b.unker .and biding their time. as they wait for .the. myste.rious Ark, an air ship o.f some kind that will. come and save them. The. Ark proves to be .an elaborate hoax, carefull.y designe.d to give hope to the malno.urished and desperate de.nizens of. the bunker, while in th.e mean.time the dome that se.parates their mise.rab.le exi.stence from the nuclear .winter outside is slo.wly caving in. What fir.st striked me abou.t the movie is the design o.f the bun.ker and the depiction of th.e survivors. The survivo.rs are ga.unt, filthy and terrible.-looki.ng penitents, dressed. in rags and aimle.ssl.y wand.ering the neon-lit halls. of the bunker like a.utomatons. The bunker is. a rundown, seedy .place, with bright neon lig.hts peeri.ng from all sides like the .eyes of malignant beasts.. On one. hand it is a slightly 8.0's de.piction of the dystop.ian future but the. mo.vie ne.ver stoops down to MAD M.AX cheese. Instead it. combines biting politic.al satire with the. bleak outlook of a world w.ith no fu.ture, black comedy with bar.bs on apathy, religion a.nd power.. The survivors, for exam.ple, a.re fed some kind of f.lour dropping from. a .tube t.hat hovers in the air - .later on we discover .the food supervisor uses. books and the Bib.le itself as filler for thi.s meagre .meal. There are many such s.hort symbolic touches, p.erhaps no.t life-changing or faith.-resto.ring, yet playful, cl.ever and inspired.. O.ne thi.ng is for sure; O-BI, O-.BA is not your run-of.-the-mill sci-fi schlock.. It overcomes its. modest budget with creativ.ity and h.as genuine artistic aspirat.ions both from a writing. and dire.cting perspective. My op.inion .is that it should hav.e been filmed in b.lac.k and .white instead of colour .though. The director .uses atmospheric light a.nd shadow to great. effect and it would have r.egistered. even better in stark black. and white. The blue-gre.en neon o.n the other hand outstay.s its .welcome after a while.. Just a minor gri.pe .in an .otherwise solid b-movie .with its heart set in. all the right places. .Imagine a less ble.ak THE ROAD (Cormac McCarth.y) being .injected with the satire an.d humour of DR.STRANGELO.VE and yo.u're getting there. See .it if .you can find it.
