该片是由马克·顿斯阔依执导的剧情片,于1938年上映,主要讲述了:Detst.vo Gorkogo (The Child.hood of Maxim Gorky) - 1938. Directed by Mark Don.sko.y G. S.henotinnik . . . . . A Review By Ollie . . . . . . The .Childhood of Maxim Go.rky, tells the story of Ale.ksei Peshkov a 12 yea.r o.ld boy., living in 19th Century. Russia, who wo.uld later be known as. Maxim Go.rky, p.ossibly Russia's most fa.mous a.nd celebrated novelist a.nd .dramat.ist. Made in 1938, th.e film is ba.sed on Gorky's autobi.ography `My Childhood', and. is rich and powerful. fi.lm whi.ch will capture your att.ention from the. beginning. . . . . . Naturally., b.eing m.ade in 1938, the film. is in black. and white, although .the story is so colourful a.nd vibrant, with char.act.ers so. alive, you would be for.given for think.ing the film was made. much lat.er. It. definitely does not fee.l almo.st 65 years old. . . . . . A.leksei Lyarsky, who plays G.orky, is instantly li.kea.ble as. the young protagonist. .Capable of port.raying emotions far b.eyond his. years., he works superbly alon.gside .a cast of commanding and. be.lievab.le proportion. There .is an almost. Dickensian feel to s.ome of the characters. Whil.e desperately sad, an.d e.asy to. sympathise with, the Gr.andfather has a.n ineffable quality, .both humo.rous a.nd self pitying. In star.k cont.rast, Maxim's Grandmothe.r i.s a si.mple woman, one of go.odness and t.ruth, representing al.l that is beautiful in the .optimism of the pover.ty .in whi.ch they live. . . . . . This film is mor.e than. an autobiographical loo.k a.t one .person's life. It is .a peek throu.gh the windows of a t.ime long since passed, a hi.story lesson and abov.e a.ll a l.esson in life, love and .friendship. Thi.s is probably the mos.t definit.ive co.ming of age drama I have. seen,. with more authority and. gr.avitas. than Truffaut manage.d in the muc.h acclaimed `400 Blow.s'. . . . . There ar.e several scene.s which stand out. Fr.om a simp.le act. of kindness from Maxim,. when .he gives a crippled boy .his. pet m.ouse, to Gorky and hi.s friends si.tting around a fire d.reaming of a Utopian Neverl.and; from his Grandfa.the.rs alm.ost comedic reactions to. their ever inc.reasing poverty, to t.he tears .of his. Grandmother as he hands. her a. coin. . . . . . This is a r.ich and immensely strong fi.lm, advanced well bey.ond. it's .years, which holds it's .own exceptional.ly well nearly 65 yea.rs later.. This .film will leave an indel.ible m.ark on your memory, if o.nly. from .the simplicity of the. tale it tel.ls. It is, without do.ubt, pure cinematic poetry.. A piece of film hist.ory. which. everyone would do well .to try and see .-it will not disappoi.nt. An ex.tremel.y well earned 10/10!
