It def.initely d.oes. not f.eel almost 65 y.ears old. . . . . . . Aleksei Lya.rsky, who plays Gorky, i.s instantly likeable as .the young protagonist. C.apa.ble of. portr.aying emotions far beyond h.is years, he works. superbly alongsid.e a. cast of com.manding and .believabl.e p.roport.ion. There is a.n almost Dicken.sia.n feel to. some of the chara.cte.rs. While desperat.ely sad, and easy to sym.pathise with, the Grandf.ather has an ineffable q.uality, both humorous an.d s.elf pi.tying.. In stark contrast, Maxim's.
